      Buffalo Style Chicken Wings have been a local favorite that has spread throughout the nation. Now, there are cookbooks available that have recipes that are "chicken wing" inspired! And who better to author these books than a local Western New Yorker, Diane Notto-Hamric!  "It's a Wing Thing...Buffalo Style" has been out on the market since May of 2007 and it contains 125 "chicken wing" inspired recipes such as wing egg rolls, chicken fajitas and chicken wing nachos. Just last Saturday (Sept. 13,2008)  her second cookbook "It's a Wing Thing II...Buffalo Style" has been released.

    For some fun reading, head to your library's cookbook section. I recently finished a book called Prairie Home Cooking by Judith M Fertig. It's full of summer recipes for relishes, jams jellies and fruit butters and the nice part about it is a lot of the recipes do not require you to be a canning expert!!
     One such recipe is for "Lemon Cucumbers". It was fast, easy and deliciously refreshing, it is a keeper.
     Ms. Fertig also supplies us with great bread recipes, comfort meat and potato dishes and wonderful desserts.
     She provides a lot of ethnic recipes for food I've had but never knew how to make. On my "must make" list, I've included "Amish Chicken Tarragon", "German Greslauer Steaks" and "Polish Wild Mushroom Potato Soup."
     The real fun comes with the stories the author uses to introduce each recipe. Very interesting reading.

  An excellent series of books are the Southern Living ANNUAL RECIPES. Each book has all the recipes and cooking tips of the Southern Living magazine for a particular year. 

   1. Call it "a must have", a great shower gift, great for beginners
              - this book is all of these!
